Your new company
An established London University are looking for a Research Contracts Manager for a minimum of three months. The role is a key function in the delivery of the School's Strategic Plan for Research and Knowledge Exchange, particularly with regard to collaborative research, contract research and research consultancy.
Your new role
You will be responsible for advising on structuring and setting up consortium with respect to the contractual and legal requirements, including the negotiation and preparation of a wide variety of agreements including the updating and maintaining of template contracts for research, collaborations, services, and consultancy and providing ongoing contractual support and oversight for the strategic and major projects portfolio. You will plan and develop research contract initiatives in collaboration with the senior management team to deliver on the School's priorities, including the School's drive for growth in research and knowledge exchange income.
In this role, you will work closely with Legal Advisers in Governance and Legal Directorate, and with Head of Research to ensure that institutional risk is identified and appropriately assessed within each contract.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant professional qualification in law or equivalent experience
- Ability to assimilate, interpret and communicate complex legal clauses, rules and regulations.
- Ability to negotiate complex agreements for academic research and commercial agreements
- Strong interpersonal skills including motivational negotiating, influencing and relationship building
- Experience of working in Research Management environment working with academics and the pre-award and post-award teams

In addition to a competitive salary (£45,765.50 - £53,912.50 per annum) you will benefit from joining a busy and experienced research department. Initially a 3 month contract, there is the potential for extension. The role offers hybrid working.
