Group General Counsel
Group General Counsel
Founded in 1982 and still privately-owned, Ballymore is an award-winning commercial and residential property developer. Acknowledged as the pioneers behind some of the Europe’s largest regeneration projects, our development vision is creative, carefully executed, and broad in scope. Ballymore is known as one of the UK and Ireland’s leading mixed use regeneration specialists.
We are now looking to appoint a new Group General Counsel to be based at our London headquarters in Canary Wharf. In this well-respected role, you will be a key member of the senior management team with full responsibility for the legal function. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will lead a small legal team, made up of two qualified lawyers and a paralegal, whilst also managing relations with our external legal advisers.
In addition to advising on the legal aspects of complex, high-profile property development projects which often involve joint venture, tax and funding issues, you will also be expected to take the lead on providing legal and compliance advice in areas such as construction, planning and the general corporate and commercial matters affecting the day to day running of the business.
To succeed in this broad and challenging role, you are likely to have at least 15 years’ PQE* in property development, some of which will have been gained in-house. Working with colleagues across the entire spectrum of the business, we are looking for a resourceful, confident lawyer who is both technically strong and commercially-minded with a distinctly pragmatic approach to problem solving.
In return, as well as an attractive salary and bonus, we are offering you the opportunity to be an integral part of the management team of a highly successful and dynamic business which leads the way in its sector with a reputation for innovation.
* The PQE indicated is intended as a guide only and does not preclude applications from those with more or less PQE.
