Are you a Property and Planning Lawyer with 5 plus years PQE?

Come and work for a company dedicated to making the world a cleaner, longer lasting place

There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the environmental sector with radical change being driven by government policy and a more environmentally conscious general public. SUEZ’s values are passion for the environment, customer first, respect and team spirit.  As a multi-national company providing services in the waste and water sectors in the UK, for over 30 years, we are a strong and ambitious company which is continuing to grow, even in these uncertain times.  It’s our mission to create a world where all resources are used sustainably working with the public and private sectors to make the UK a greener, more environmentally-friendly country.

The Role

The job will involve working closely with our regional directors and commercial managers drafting and advising on property matters.  You would also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, bidding and negotiating new leases (predominantly with public authorities) as the company seeks to increase its market share.  We will be building new facilities and part of the role will involve dealing with planning applications and the property aspects in acquiring new sites for development.

What will I be doing?

Drafting documents using a commercial, client focussed style.

Dealing with a wide range of transactions, buying and selling, lease negotiation and review, easements, farm business tenancies licences, for planning aftercare and sales of surplus land for redevelopment.

Drafting and negotiating planning and highways agreements and dealing with queries from the in-house construction and development teams as well as supporting the in-house town and country planning team.

Supporting the teams bidding for waste contracts.

Ability to build strong relations with senior business colleagues and work with them to find practical solutions to a range of difficult problems.

Instruction of external lawyers largely for contentious matters.

Be a team player with a keen interest to share skills and experience with legal and non- legal colleagues.

What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)

You will be a solicitor or barrister or have an equivalent legal qualification - ideally 5+ years PQE.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate good knowledge of property and planning law (advising and drafting) and the ability to adapt to the commercial challenges.

Reporting to the Legal Services Manager, you will provide legal support to our national business.  Whilst our headquarters are in Maidenhead we will consider candidates that are not local (we’ve all been getting more used to working away from the office) but there will be a requirement to come to Maidenhead and other regional offices for meetings.

Remuneration

Dependent on experience your base salary would be between £70,000 to £80,000 plus car allowance, entitlement to up to 20% bonus, employer contribution to pension of 10%, 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays
