Professional Regulatory Solicitor/Barrister NQ – 5 years’ PQE/Call READING

Well-regarded commercial law firm in Reading seeks a Professional Regulatory Solicitor or Barrister of 0 to 5 years’ PQE/Call. The team acts for professional regulators and regulated professionals in the healthcare, education, accountancy and other sectors, conducting investigations and representing regulators and professionals regarding misconduct, lack of competence and other allegations. They also conduct criminal prosecutions on behalf of bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and defend criminal prosecutions brought by regulators and government agencies. The team includes advocates who present cases and defend professionals before regulatory tribunals and the criminal courts. They also manage a range of Regulatory appeals (including registration appeals) and judicial reviews for their clients, as well as preparing and presenting various forms of High Court litigation. Team members also sit as legal advisors to various regulatory tribunals. The team also assist clients with the full range of issues that they face with regard to governance, regulatory structures and public law more generally, which can relate to anything from disciplinary procedures to the oversight of professional standards and professional education institutions. This extends to assisting regulators and professionals in relation to all matters relating to regulatory risk and compliance. The team comprises barristers and solicitors all of whom specialise in regulatory work, but who come from a mix of criminal and civil litigation backgrounds. Your expertise will have ideally been gained within the professional regulatory sector or you may have similar skills through experience of other types of litigation.
