An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a senior real estate lawyer to join the legal team of this highly successful business to take on a varied commercial property focused role, working on high quality and complex development projects.


THE COMPANY

Located between Manchester and Leeds, with a group turnover in excess of £100 million, Commercial Development Projects (part of the Marshall Group of companies) specialises in developments within the commercial sector, including hotels, in- and out-of-town retail schemes, offices, industrial premises and leisure schemes throughout the UK. It also holds a strong portfolio of land which it has set aside for future projects.


THE ROLE

Joining a well established, 4 strong, high calibre legal department, you take on a wide ranging remit in the business, ensuring that property related legal risks and liabilities are recognised and evaluated and progressing property transactions to a successful conclusion. This will be real estate work with an emphasis on complex and interesting property development work. Transactions will include site acquisitions, lettings, pre-lets, investment sales, forward sales, forward fundings, financing, joint ventures, structuring of city centre development schemes, planning and other statutory agreements, construction and project management. You will undertake regular site visits - at the acquisition, on-site and completion of development stages - and will be fully integrated at the "coal face" of the business.


ABOUT YOU

We are keen to hear from experienced Real Estate lawyers with a strong track record in property development, gained in a well regarded law firm or in house team. You will additionally need strong communication skills as there will be significant interaction with colleagues and clients from across the business.

The work is high quality and complex and the successful candidate will have good academics, a sharp intellect, training and PQE in a well respected law firm and, ideally, good development work experience. You will also be commercially aware, down-to-earth and transactional results driven, looking to progress your career being closely connected to the business in an in house environment.
