Our client is a leading international law firm, which continues to go from strength to strength. It has made significant progress by focussing and establishing its credentials in key sectors, in particular technology, media & communications, energy and infrastructure and life sciences. The firm has strong values and is very committed to a collaborative approach from everyone to responsible business.

An exceptional opportunity has come up for a corporate/commercial lawyer to join the General Counsel team as Senior In-house Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work closely with him in delivering key strategic projects involving the international and domestic firm. You will be a key member of an integral internal legal team and will provide senior level support to the General Counsel and the firm’s senior management. It’s an opportunity to be at the very heart of the business.

The scope of the role is broad and will include assessing and advising on the legal implications of major strategic decisions, dealings with international structuring, M&A activity and additions to the business via merger, acquisition or alliance, advising on UK and international governance, overseeing the firm’s procurement processes and assisting with risk issues. As a key member of the in-house team, you will also work closely with business services teams across the firm, including the talent team, and represent the legal team on firm-wide projects.

Our client is looking for a corporate/commercial lawyer of at least three years’ pqe who is motivated by the idea of helping an ambitious international law firm to meet its goals. Your experience may have been gained in a similar role with another firm or in another highly regarded in-house team. Alternatively, you may currenlty be in a fee-earning role, but looking to take your career in a new direction. You will need to have the confidence and credibility to work with people at all levels, combined with commercial acumen and the ability to handle complex and confidential matters with absolute discretion.
