Legal Counsel - Privacy

Our client is a global payments platform looking for their next Legal Counsel to join their Privacy Team to accommodate their exponential growth in e-commerce.

The successful candidate will:

* Advise on regulatory matters including compliance with the GDPR, European payments regulations and their equivalents
* Produce and maintain a variety of internal policies and compliance related documents
* Collaborating with all core functions within the company and with the Data Protection Officer

* You will help put in place and improve existing processes and support the business in launching new products
* You will advise on novel and complex issues and provide clear advice on legal and commercial issues and risks
* You will monitor new legal and regulatory developments and consider their impact on the business
* You will carry out research on various multijurisdictional regulatory issues
* You will help the business continue to expand internationally; researching and evaluating new territories and providing creative, proactive and results orientated advice

Requirements:

* Qualified lawyer (junior to mid-level) with a foundation in privacy, gained by training in private practice or in-house - all applications will be considered on merit
* Background advising on the GDPR and global data protection matters
* Previous fintech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank experience would be beneficial
* Experience working in a start-up or other fast-paced and dynamic environment is (desirable but not essential)
* Experience working internationally and on a variety of cross-border matters (desirable but not essential)
* Additional language skills (desirable but not essential)
* Dual qualification in an overseas jurisdiction (desirable but not essential)

* Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and challenging stakeholder demands
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed, flexing the approach as the matter requires
* Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely
* Enthusiasm for new challenges and skilling up in different areas of law
