The Real Estate team is also at the forefront of innovating how legal services are delivered to our clients.

Role purpose
We are currently looking for an Associate to join us on a part time basis (3 days per week) to work within the Construction team of Allen & Overy's award winning real estate group. This is an exciting opportunity in a vibrant stand alone practice which provides "go to" expertise for our Real Estate and Banking lawyers, alongside their own pitches and client management.

Role and responsibilities

    Assist and report to the senior members of the construction team.Deliver timely and accurate advice on standard construction related queries;Draft and negotiate appointments, contracts and other legal documents to ensure clients and relevant third parties have appropriate rights of recourse under each of them;Be an integral part of the "go to team" in relation to all real estate related construction matters;To liaise with and provide support in relation to banking and corporate transactions;Assist the senior members of the construction team to deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders ;Maintain current knowledge of any changes in legislation, common law and market norms.Present monthly legal updates.


Key Requirements

    Driven, enthusiastic associate with strong academics and experience of working on major construction deals. The successful candidate will have had experience of a variety of aspects of construction in a number of sectors and involving a number of different real estate asset classes;Experience of cross jurisdictional issues is an advantage but is not essential;Experience of working with complex real estate structures and identifying the rights and remedies available to investors, funders and occupiers in relation to the same;Experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiating building contracts, appointments, collateral warranties, third party rights and other ancillary construction documents;Experience of working on development finance transactions;The ability to identify any material issues of concern in construction documents;Working knowledge of the standard forms of building contract in the UK particularly the JCT forms of contract;Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information;High degree of professional ethics and integrity;Excellent communication skills and a "can do" attitude;Ability to effectively manage own workload;Good team player.


In addition to UK qualified lawyers, we are open to seeing candidates who qualified overseas providing they have some UK/English Law experience.
