FS Regulatory Lawyer – Snr Associate to Counsel, British Virgin Islands
We are working closely with a premier offshore law firm that is keen to hear from aspiring regulatory lawyers who would be potentially interested in embarking on a long-term career within their expanding BVI office. Our client’s regulatory team offers expert legal advice to BVI, Cayman Islands, Irish, Jersey and Luxembourg entities regarding AML and CTF compliance, including development and assessment of AML / CTF and risk management systems, KYC and customer due diligence best practices, conduct of money laundering and fraud proceedings and provision of expert evidence on AML / CTF and regulatory obligations.
Admitted to practice in England & Wales with a minimum of 5yrs experience gained at a leading international firm or commercial barristers chambers, applicants will have experience to date in some (or all) of: Regulatory and Financial Services Advisory, Anti-money Laundering and Counterterrorism, Financing Compliance, Automatic Exchange of Information and Regulatory Enforcement matters. Established Partners would also be considered, especially those that have existing offshore experience.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate, this appointment will allow our clients BVI practice to handle matters independently from the Cayman office, which is currently home to the regulatory group for the whole firm, and therefore offers the successful candidate a clear opportunity to take the lead in the direction and development of the practice long-term.
To succeed in this role, it is envisaged that you will be a self-starter capable of taking on immediate responsibility while dealing directly and independently with clients and onshore counsel across a variety of interesting and challenging work streams. With an eye for detail, it is important that you will take the lead in research, marketing and business development activities, collaborating closely with colleagues across offices in offering clients up to date information on the changing regulatory landscape.
