The Organisation:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join an award-winning independent production company specialising in entertainment, comedy, factual, drama and factual programming. This fast-growth production company is looking for a Legal and Business Executive to join their high-performing team.
The Role:
This position will be working within the Legal and Business Affairs team, across all genres to deal with all legal and commercial aspects of our client's production business:
- Drafting and negotiating all forms of development, production and underlying rights agreements, such as presenter, contributor, location, footage and other underlying rights/format acquisition contracts
- Assisting in the negotiation of commissioning agreements with broadcasters and other content distribution
- Providing legal advice on programme content and compliance
The Successful Applicant:
The ideal applicant will be a newly/recently qualified solicitor or an experienced business affairs executive with relevant experience in entertainment and media law as well as the following attributes and experience:
- Excellent drafting skills
- Sound practical experience of intellectual property and contract law
- Working knowledge of the UK television sector, broadcaster terms of trade and current issues affecting the industry
- Able to balance the commercial needs of the business with the creative requirements while keeping within the framework of legal and regulatory constraints and in accordance with standard industry practice
- Highly organised and thrive within a fast-paced and varied environment
- Ability to explain complex legal issues to non-legal professionals
