Job Details

The LexisPSL Banking & Finance team is looking for a full time derivatives and capital markets lawyer to deliver practical guidance, current awareness developments and industry body updates for the derivatives and capital markets legal sector, with a focus on updating our existing content, and creating new content. The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with a range of practical experience dealing with legal issues in derivatives and capital markets.  

Key roles and responsibilities

The successful candidate will fulfil the purpose of the role by:

  • Assisting the Head of Banking and Finance team with the development and execution of a market-leading content set for our Banking & Finance module for allocated areas of coverage
  • drafting and updating comprehensive derivatives and capital markets core content including practice notes, checklists, toolkits, precedents, timelines and Q&As for Banking & Finance legal practitioners
  • monitoring and maintaining existing core content to a high standard technically and editorially
  • working closely with the current awareness team to produce a leading current awareness offering providing Banking & Finance news updates of the highest quality, tailored to the needs of Banking & Finance lawyers
  • keeping up to date with relevant developments in Banking & Finance and helping others within LexisPSL to do the same, including by ‘horizon scanning’ for upcoming developments that our external customer base and teams within LexisPSL will need to be aware of
  • working closely with the content acquisition team and external authors to commission Banking & Finance practical guidance including forging external relationships with law firms and/or potential external authors to promote contributions to LexisPSL Banking & Finance having a detailed knowledge of the competitive landscape; forming view of strengths and weaknesses of competitors and identifying opportunities for differentiators and growth
  • balancing competing demands in the development of relevant content, identifying priorities and meeting deadlines
  • working proactively with other LexisPSL practice areas where it is relevant to do so to deliver complementary roadmaps
  • having input into the development of technical solutions with our product teams, to ensure that guidance is delivered in the most efficient way possible
  • where required, assisting the LexisPSL Banking & Finance team with customer engagements and delivering successful demonstrations of the product to customers
  • where required, supporting the Engagements team, assisting with relevant marketing collateral and assisting with any customer feedback regarding relevant coverage areas
  • assisting with customer queries via the LexisAsk service where required
  • assisting the Head of the Banking & Finance team with delivering clear, customer-appropriate content updates where required
  • assisting with developing an appropriate taxonomy structure for the allocated coverage areas
  • assisting the Head of the Banking & Finance team with the development and execution of a holistic practice area strategy across all products, solutions and services within the LexisNexis portfolio aimed at Banking & Finance practitioners

Person specification

Education/qualifications

UK qualified lawyer – minimum 5 years PQE

Evidence that continuing professional development is pursued

Knowledge

Comprehensive current knowledge of derivatives and capital markets practice area and industry (including the regulatory landscape). Candidates with the following should have:

  • Real understanding of the derivatives and capital markets legal community and market and working knowledge of key developments affecting the industry

Experience

Extensive client delivery experience
Evidence of being able to deliver to tight and demanding timescales on multiple projects
PSL experience
Top tier law firm experience
