Senior Counsel - Commercial & Corporate

c. 5-10 years' PQE

Cambridgeshire & WFH (40%/60%)

Our client is a renowned and prestigious TMT & publishing institution and is looking for a collaborative, adaptable and enthusiastic commercial & corporate lawyer to join its close-knit Legal and Business Affairs team.

This is key role as Senior Legal Counsel supporting major business groups, whilst also supporting a wide range of corporate matters. The role offers a varied range of non-contentious work, due to the changing nature of the business, particularly the shift from print to digital, and from products to services, and also the global reach of our client's work as part of the wider establishment.

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will be advising on contracts with suppliers, customers and other third parties, covering a range of products and services. You will also advise on corporate matters, including working with Finance and other Group wide teams to support the organisation's business globally. This may include matters involving subsidiaries, entities, tax matters or supporting M&A and joint ventures.

You will be able to deputise for the Assistant General Counsel where required and help supervise more junior members of the team. Cultural fit is important and you will be commercial and proactive and develop strong working relationships across the wider business.

About you:

You will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or another common-law jurisdiction), with c. 5-10 years' PQE (indicative only) and significant experience in advising on commercial and corporate legal matters. You may come from a private practice or in-house environment and will be keen to enjoy good quality work, a good work/life balance and great colleagues. A very flexible hybrid working model is on offer, allowing 40% office attendance and compressed hours if required.
