Senior Legal Counsel, part-time

Large national business with a turnover of £1bn seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to join on a part time basis (3 – 4 days per week).

Arbuthnot Yon are working with a sizeable blue chip national business which is a leader in its field. The business has experienced a period of growth and an opportunity exists for a lawyer to join as a Senior Legal Counsel on a part-time (3 – 4 day per week) basis.  Reporting into the Head of Legal you will be responsible for the day to day running of the legal team and management of junior lawyers as well as advising the business in relation to commercial legal matters.  Working closely with business colleagues and the executive team you will be responsible for the following areas:

• Commercial agreements including large out-sourcing projects, supply of services agreements, technology related contracts and customer contracts;
• Marketing and digital strategy including data protection projects;
• Regulatory and compliance issues;
• Leading on any disputes with customers or suppliers (with external support as required); and
• Leading on legal/business system development.

This is a varied in-house role where you will have lots of autonomy and exposure to the Board. The business is evolving and the legal team have an important part to play in this and you will have the ability to affect change as the business evolves and grows. 

This opportunity is suited to an experienced commercial lawyer who has sound experience in commercial contracts but is also keen to develop and get involved in a broad range of work.  We are keen to hear from mid-level lawyers looking to step up into a more senior role or alternatively an experienced lawyer looking for a change.   Applications will be considered on a part-time (3 – 4 days per week basis) or on a full-time basis. The team are all working from home currently and will adopt a hybrid working model going forward - there will be a requirement to be in the office in Staffordshire 2 days a week when it is safe to do so.
