Head of Legal - 12mth FTC - £135-140k

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the incumbent will enjoy a broad-ranging daily remit including:

• Managing a mid-sized legal team of qualified solicitors and other legal professionals, and taking the lead on decisions relating to workflow allocation, capacity management, legal process and team engagement
• Leading on a wide spectrum of legal matters including commercial deals (technology, services, advertising, sponsorship, marketing, content rights etc); corporate and transactional matters; and advising on geographical expansion and product launches
• Engaging with senior stakeholders and providing input at board level
• Monitoring and developing Group compliance
• Managing external counsel process and spend

About You

The client believes that this role requires someone with at least 10 PQE (and those with significantly more than that are also encouraged to apply). Applications from all levels will be considered on merit.

You will have need to have previous experience of managing a legal team in a fast-paced and regulated industry - examples such as gambling, tobacco, alcohol and media. Candidates from financial services will also be considered but ideally smaller outfits (eg fintech startups). In addition, you must be able to demonstrate an extensive track record of successful taking high value/high risk commercial deals from inception to a successful conclusion. Any previous work in launching businesses, products and services into new territories would also be extremely helpful. Previous experience of the betting and gaming industry would be hugely beneficial but by no means essential.

You must be available to start the role by the beginning of September (candidates who are contractually on 3 months' notice cannot be considered unless they have already been given assurances by their current employer than they can leave sooner than that)
