The Firm
Our client is a top U.S. law firm with a London office which offers full-service English and U.S. law capability, in practice areas to include dispute resolution, corporate, finance, competition/antitrust, real estate, employment, and tax. Their lawyers advise a broad range of clients including international corporations, financial institutions, private equity funds and governments on complex and challenging transactions and disputes arising from numerous jurisdictions and industry sectors.
The Role
Due to the high volume of transactions and a significant pipeline of work the need to increase capacity is urgent with the hiring of a high calibre associate to join the busy team a priority. The real estate practice comprises lawyers from some of the top international firms who handle complex and high-end real estate and real estate private equity transactions. They have a particular focus on corporate and investment property acquisitions and disposals, leasing and joint ventures, recapitalizations, loan portfolio acquisitions and distressed trading.
The Candidate
Candidates will have gained experience at a top tier law firm and currently be at junior to mid-associate level with 2 to 5 years’ pqe although candidates with experience outside this range may be considered. Your experience will include acting on behalf of institutional clients including real estate funds, PE houses and institutional investors on REPs, joint ventures, funds, partnerships, companies, trusts and the acquisition and sale of real estate SPVs and loan portfolios. Clients will include active U.S. companies and funds currently buying European assets and structuring deals offshore in the Channel Islands, Luxembourg and Cayman. Some real estate finance experience would be useful. Deals typically cross-border involving U.K., U.S. and European counterparties. Candidates with European deal experience and languages such as German of French would be especially useful, but this is not a prerequisite.
