Legal Counsel

Fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded all-rounder to join this hugely successful IT business as their first In-house counsel, reporting into the Finance & Operations Director.

Following an MBO, this group has gone from strength to strength and the future is looking extremely positive. They are now at a stage where they would like to bring some of their legal work In-house and are seeking a non-contentious company commercial lawyer with a pragmatic and solutions-orientated commercial approach.

Although the environment is fast-paced and dynamic, they are a people orientated group with a successful sales team who will genuinely value working alongside a lawyer. This is not the wild west!

An open mind and appetite to expand the role in time would be welcomed as there will be opportunity to turn this role into something much bigger in time, but initially there is a need for innovation, vision and commerciality.

Knowledge of general contracts law is required (Customer Agreements - NDAs, Service contracts, Data Processing Agreements Tender responses etc), but ultimately, it's your approach which is critical and an appetite to become more entwined with the more generalist commercial challenges in helping this business achieve its goals.

We'd envisage this requiring someone with at least 3 years PQE, but otherwise my client is open-minded, and it may equally suit someone more qualified who is looking for a more relaxed arrangement on a part time basis. Notably, this role can be worked almost completely remotely, although the HQ is based in York and some travel may be required occasionally.
