Fantastic new role within a high growth, ground-breaking manufacturing research and training organisation which is prominent in the success of a diverse range of sectors including; aerospace, automotive, food & drink, rail, transport, healthcare, informatics, robotics, food production, defence, marine, oil & gas, construction, civil engineering, simulation, 3D printing/ additive manufacture, metrology, and infrastructure sectors. They are now seeking a Head of Legal to establish and lead the new department who will play a prominent and high-profile role in the organisation.

Reporting directly into the FD, the successful candidate will take responsibility for everything from contributing to commercial strategy, leading commercial and legal negotiations to bespoke contract drafting. You will also develop the legal team to deliver clear, pragmatic legal advice to meet business needs, offering development and improvement activities for the department, identifying and addressing future needs of the team in order to deliver on the legal team's strategy in line with the company strategy and direction.

My client helps bridge the gap between academia and industry and you are likely to be a pragmatic and versatile communicator and negotiator, who is driven by the desire to present commercially viable solutions to challenges. The portfolio is varied and diverse and ranges from multi-million pound contracts to smaller strategic alliances with SME's

We would imagine this person being a qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate and having several years company law and contracts experience gained from notable law firms or in-house department - preferably within the technology or manufacturing sector. It is likely to suit someone either looking to move into a "Head of" role, or equally someone looking for something a little less orthodox given the intricate web of stakeholders within the network.

Aside your company law exposure, any experience of IP matters, GDPR and health & safety would be extremely useful, although the greater priority is to recruit someone with energy, vision and innovation to help this business continue on its journey of extraordinary growth

This is an exciting time for the group and offers an interesting and exciting mix of legal and commercial challenges. Salary is likely to be in the region of £65-£85k+ bens which includes an extremely flexible working arrangement which is currently working compressed hours of 5 days in four….
