Commercial Litigation (1-4 PQE) – British Virgin Islands

We have been instructed on the behalf of a leading disputes practice in the BVI who are looking to speak with ambitious litigators with between 1-4yrs post qualified experience. England & Wales qualified (solicitors or barristers), applicants will possess a superb academic pedigree and experience developed with a highly rated City / international law firm or leading commercial chambers. Those candidates with either Russian or Chinese language skills would be of particular interest, but this is not essential.

You will become part of a small, close knit team and receive hands on training & mentoring while benefitting from immediate responsibility on a range of interesting & challenging matters spanning international litigation, contentious trust and insolvency matters, with emphasis on distressed funds work. Our client’s team have been involved in many of the largest offshore disputes to come before the BVI Court in recent history, so access to some of the best work on island is guaranteed.

Smaller than Cayman but attracting contentious work of an equal calibre, the BVI is c20% cheaper to live than other commensurate Caribbean islands and would appeal to those that are looking for a close-knit, ex-pat environment with access to world class beaches and water sports.  Furthermore, the financial package on offer is competitive (attracting minimal tax) while relocation assistance will be provided.

To conclude, this is an opportunity that will suit those looking to escape the rat race with no reduction in work quality or career progression. It will however require individuals to be fully away of the environment to which they enter and be committed to building a life in the BVI.
