Construction Litigation NQ+ - £42,000 + Benefits

New! - our client are a leading Legal 500 firm based with an outstanding reputation for high-profile construction, engineering, and infrastructure matters. Due to growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Construction Solicitor (NQ+) to join the team and play an integral role in the future development of the practice. A minimum of 6 months construction experience is essential for this role.

Any prior knowledge of the various JCT form contracts, their amendments and market norms is ideal, as is a willingness to advise on bespoke, complex agreements. Experience of some procurement and contracting strategies, funding and financing agreements, contract tendering and frameworks and security documentation including advance payment bonds is essential.

Typical responsibilities may include:

·         Assisting with the resolution of construction related disputes including assisting with the conduct of adjudications, mediations and court based disputes

·         Taking instructions in connection with contentious construction and engineering disputes and providing initial advice

·         Assisting during the pre-action protocol process

·         Assisting with the conduct of proceedings including the instruction of experts and counsel

·         Attendance at mediations, court hearings, arbitration hearing and adjudication hearings

·         Negotiating appointments with the professional team and collecting warranties from the contractors, sub-contractors and the professional team

·         Assisting our real estate colleagues on the construction aspects of development transactions including development obligations, warranties and copyright issues

·         Carrying out due diligence audits of construction packages

·         Negotiation of development agreements and building contracts (and familiarisation with the commonly used standard forms)

You will be given an opportunity to develop own technical knowledge and skills including:

·         Ability to analyse information and reach sound decisions

·         Recognising the commercial drivers behind a deal and reacting accordingly

·         Recognising issues and problems arising during the course of a transaction and reacting quickly and effectively

·         Ability to understand and adhere to instructions; and

·         Ability to communicate succinctly both orally and in writing.
