Data Privacy – Legal Counsel (Remote/London)

This is an exciting opportunity at a leading FTSE 250 financial services company.  The group headquarters has a thriving and busy legal team, which supports the group functions and operational business.  A new role has been created in the commercial legal team to support the Head of Commercial Legal  & Data Protection Officer.  

The role will specialise in Data Protection and responsibilities will include advising the group on all legal and regulatory aspects of data protection, including policy, procedures, risk planning and risk management.  The work will also involve managing breaches and contractual and legal aspects. Supporting varied stakeholders across the business and as part of a dynamic close knit team, the work will be a diverse mix of operational and strategic, with plenty of opportunity to develop the role in line with the growth of the business. 

This role will suit a qualified lawyer with up to 2-3 years’ PQE gained in a law firm or in-house legal environment, or an experienced data privacy manager who has a law degree and hands on experience in an in-house legal team.  Experience in a financial services institution is highly desirable. The location of the role is flexible with travel to the London and regional office for meetings and a blend of office and home working once the offices open. The role works closely with the more generalist legal team and if desired there can be exposure to more general commercial legal work and other interesting and varied strategic projects.
