The Opportunity

The organisation now has a need to appoint a Head of Legal to provide dedicated legal support to  the commercial division of the hospital trust. The position will require a unique balance of bringing a commercial approach to the organisation as well as navigating the complexities of the NHS. With a team of three to manage, you will be responsible for ensuring the legal team offer the best possible legal support to the group, providing specialist commercial legal advice through the commercial division as well as to the wider trust. You will lead on matters relating to maximising commercial contracting activities, which will range from day-to-day activities to major commercial initiatives, as well as providing key strategic advice. The work will be varied and will incorporate NHS contracting, governance, data privacy, IP and procurement.

About You

The position will suit an individual with knowledge and experience of NHS contracting as well as experience managing a team. Experience in the healthcare sector and / or the NHS would be well-regarded. A commercial approach is key, as is the ability to navigate both highly sensitive situations and a highly complex system. High emotional intelligence and political awareness are also required. A genuine interest in ensuring the effectiveness of the healthcare sector is also essential.
