For all but a smattering of uber elite players, the “Kirklandisation” of the European law firm PE market has created distorted, and likely unsustainable, structures amongst many of the chasing pack also-rans. So, whilst it is indisputable that the European PE market has shifted decisively towards US headquartered firms for sound macro-economic and business reasons, for many UK partners the undoubted benefit of the US brand (and higher associate support compensation) is offset by stratospheric charge out rates that their mid-market clients simply cannot wear.
Although this Global US firm has some marquee private equity funds clients, it aims its big guns firmly at the mid-market. That, combined with its unique structure, enables it to offer private equity laterals the best of all worlds – a combination of realistic and flexible charge-out rates, high partner and associate compensation and a deep European network.
