Corporate/Funds/Regulatory Lawyer (5yrs+ PQE) – Asia (incl. 6-12 month secondment to Cayman)

An increased volume of global regulatory laws over recent years has seen the expansion of this leading offshore firms Global Regulatory Group, across multiple jurisdictions. There is now a defined business need for a regulatory lawyer to be located in one of their Asian offices and candidates should have at least five years relevant post-qualification experience, gained in a common law jurisdiction (such as UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Hong Kong).

The role will involve advising on Cayman Islands and BVI regulatory matters (including but not limited to AEOI, AML, data protection, economic substance and various other regulatory laws), as well as providing support to the firms Asia based lawyers to ensure that they are abreast of the latest regulatory developments and are able to advise on regulatory matters on transactions from within the Asian time zone. The successful candidate will likely sit with the funds team, although providing regulatory support across various departments in Asia.

Applicants should have good technical legal skills, an interest in regulatory work, as well as being committed to building a regulatory practice for the long-term. Ideally, the candidate would have some experience in advising on funds, corporate and/or finance transactions, in order to understand the background against which regulations have developed, although this is not a pre-requisite. Previous regulatory experience is not required as all training will be provided by our clients Global Regulatory Group.

In order to ensure the successful candidate has sufficient knowledge and gains sufficient experience of regulatory matters in an offshore context, the role will involve a secondment to their Cayman Islands office (expected to be approximately 6 -12 months) where you will sit with, get to know, and be trained by thes Cayman Regulatory Team, before relocating permanently to Asia.
