VP Markets Lawyer Prime Brokerage
London  

The Role:

To provide day-to-day coverage in the Legal function with accountabilities covering the Equity Finance and Fixed Income Finance businesses. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior business personnel, as well as lead negotiation of key legal agreements and regulatory implementation projects while managing outside counsel relationships.

Job Description
•    Reporting to the IB EME Markets Legal lead for Prime Services Advisory 
•    Providing help and advice to the Markets business  with a focus on securities lending and cash prime brokerage
•    Negotiating complex documents relevant for the product coverage area, including bespoke stock lending and repo documentation, prime brokerage agreements 
•    Management of a broad portfolio of work, both transactional and regulatory (e.g. CASS, CSDR, AIFMD, IBOR replacement)
•    Contribution to and, where appropriate, representation of Legal in respect of various business-led strategic projects
•    Assisting with optimising processes, policies and procedures with respect to securities lending and prime brokerage activity globally 
•    Acting as an escalation point for the Global Contract Services team with respect to negotiation of global securities lending agreements, global master repurchase agreements

What we’re looking for:
•    Commonwealth, US or European qualified lawyer
•    Experience at investment bank and/ or a leading law firm, excellent legal drafting and negotiating skills and a good knowledge of securities and financial markets laws
•    Experience of advising on and negotiating derivatives and/ or loan documentation 
•    Legal analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions, as well as the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and ideas

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Experience of advising on prime brokerage agreements, securities financing arrangements and/ or other prime financing-specific documentation 
•    Understanding security interest and netting considerations
•    Experience of advising on and implementing regulatory change in a derivatives or prime financing context
•    Understanding of commercial rationale and client needs and ability to advise the business on formulating and executing strategy

Where will you be working?
Based in Canary Wharf with a significant amount of Flex working and initially WFH
