Job Details
Our national law firm client has a strong existing practice in the energy sector, particularly in renewables where it has expertise across wind, hydro and solar. The practice is well regarded and both individuals and the team highly rated in the directories.
The renewables team is well supported by other of the firm’s departments (such as banking, real estate and regulatory) and is now seeking a partner with a particular focus on the corporate aspects of the clean energy market; acquisitions, disposals, fundraising, JVs and ongoing corporate advisory. Given the nature and geographic spread of the firm the majority of clients and prospective clients will focus on UK energy deals in the mid to upper mid-market.
The energy sector team, which is led by a highly regarded HoD, has had an exceptionally busy 2020 and the firm is confident that this market will continue to prosper and will produce a steady deal flow going forward this year.
The renewables team itself is growing, with lateral partner hires in 2020 and makes a stellar contribution to overall firm revenues and profile. It is very important to the firm’s strategy. So, you will find a practice which remains ambitious but where there is considerable head room but also plenty of internal support with a mandate for continued growth.
The partners would be happy to talk to lawyers with 100% renewables experience but also those with exposure to other areas of the energy market provided they can show a desire to focus more fully on the sector. In either event it is important that you have a profile or developing profile for this type of corporate transactional work and also can point to an existing network of clients, multipliers, referrers and contacts.
The firm can show how successful it has been in attracting and supporting lateral hires into this team and supporting their own development and that of the practice overall. The partners are happy to consider individuals who either have an established practice or non-partner candidates who are ready to take the next step and have a network/profile that will provide a good platform for future BD successes.
