Ofgem is the energy regulator for Great Britain, and our role is to protect consumers now and in the future by working to deliver a greener, fairer energy system. We do this by:

The General Counsel role will play a pivotal role at the heart of Ofgem by providing clear leadership and direction to the Office of General Counsel in order to enhance Ofgem’s decision-making across the organisation. As the strategic lead for legal, you will have the ability to inspire a diverse range of legal professionals to deliver against Ofgem’s strategy and build a strong, intellectually rigorous and responsive culture.
On a day to day basis you will be required to ensure that Ofgem maintains legal compliance as a regulator in all its internal and external undertakings. As General Counsel, you will advise upon and manage all aspects of legal risk.

The scope of this role will require a combination of exceptional leadership and strategic thought.
In addition, the successful applicant will be a full member of the Executive leadership team and will be expected to play a full part in developing the wider Ofgem strategy, organisational transformation, and our day to day management. Your position as General Counsel will be a full member of Ofgem’s Executive Committee and directly involved in all key Executive decisions.
