The Client

A leading International company have instructed us on a rare opportunity to join their widely respected team as a Employment Lawyer/Barrister.

The Role

You’re accountable for:

  • The legal advice in any Employment Tribunal claim and settlement agreement assigned to you from time to time.
  • The stakeholder relationship with HR in relation to your legal advice.
  • Delivering your team goals relating to income targets (set each year) as well as any personal goals.
  • Developing and coaching other lawyers and paralegals whose work you supervise from time to time.

You’ll 

  • Give legal advice in all practice areas.
  • Build strong relationships with your HR stakeholders and the wider team’s stakeholders
  • Help to create simple processes, guidance and templates. 
  • Support the Senior Employment Lawyers and Chief Counsel to deliver our income targets.
  • Deputise as needed.

This means you’ll:-

Give legal advice in the key practice areas (including):-

  • Employment Tribunals (ET’s):  Run ET’s (including drafting, negotiating, settling and advocacy). 
  • Settlement Agreements (SA’s): Draft, review, negotiate and advise HR on SA’s (including senior SA’s)
  • Case Management:  Advise HR and Line Managers on grievances, investigations, disciplinary, performance and attendance cases (and any other case management queries).   
  • Employment law Projects:  Advise on projects (e.g. redundancy, TUPE, Simplify etc.)
  • Team Goals – Take action to deliver your team goals (set each year).

Be consistent and keep up to date, you’ll :-

  • Consistency: Use the standard systems, processes, guidance and templates available in each practice area.
  • Horizon scan and keep your legal knowledge up to date; ensure HR and colleagues are kept up to date.

People Management, you’ll :-

  • Coach, develop and supervise other people who do work for you.

Support Senior Lawyers and Chief Counsel deliver consistent performance management

Skills and Experience Needed:

Qualified solicitor with current practicing certificate in England + Wales and/or Scotland.
