Who are we?

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the world's largest law schools. With an impressive history dating back to 1876, we employ over 900 staff and have over 14,000 students studying on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with an alumni network in excess of 100,000. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from fourteen campuses throughout the UK, Berlin and Hong Kong.

What are we looking for?

Due to significant growth and success across all areas of our portfolio, we are looking to recruit tutors and senior tutors who can teach on our law programmes at our Leeds and Sheffield campuses. Applications from academics as well as from qualified solicitors and barristers are welcome.

You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery. You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses, whilst teaching on our postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. Please note that classes are also routinely delivered over weekends and evenings and tutors are expected to work flexibly within these parameters.

You must have a genuine passion for quality and excellence. You may or may not have previous experience of teaching but you will have the drive and enthusiasm to learn.  You will enjoy being challenged and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery.  You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including 35 days annual leave, private medical insurance, pension scheme, life assurance, training/qualifications and travel loans. As part of the tutor development programme, we will also support you to study for a recognised teaching qualification within your first 18 months of employment.

Salary: Tutor: £36,250 to £41,250 (depending upon skills, experience and PQE) Senior Tutor – competitive salary starting from £45,250 (subject to Fellowship of the HEA and depending on previous legal teaching experience)

Are you ready to join our dynamic team and help contribute to our success?

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion prior to application, please contact Andrea Jones at Andrea.Jones@law.ac.uk

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check - you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body - we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.

Closing date for applications: 31/03/2021

Interviews will be scheduled to take place in the week commencing 12 April 2021
