Funds Lawyer 2-4 years' PQE for established, reputable and innovative Investment Manager

Our client is an entrepreneurial and innovative investment manager, with a strong and solid reputation.  It is an exciting time to join them as they have experienced a period of sustained, positive performance over the past years, and are currently going through a phase of global expansion. This is a new role to support this expansion.

What will the role involve:

• Advising on the setting up, maintenance and closure of investment funds (including UCITS and both open-ended and closed-ended AIFs);
• Drafting, reviewing, advising or negotiating legal documentation such as fund constitutional documentation, marketing material, platform and other distribution agreements, and agreements with service providers to the fund;
• Assisting in the development of international distribution of both segregated accounts and funds;
• Negotiating and drafting investment management agreements and other agreements with clients, investment counterparties and investee vehicles, including trading documentation such as ISDAs, CSAs;
• Advising colleagues on all relevant regulatory requirements such as FCA Rules, EMIR, AIFMD, MiFID II, SFDR and EBA Guidelines on outsourcing, and overseas regulations affecting them; and ensure policies and procedures are adequate;
• Working on corporate and strategic projects e.g. the establishment of new offices or obtaining and maintaining overseas registrations.

There is a fair amount of bespoke work to be done so you must be someone who enjoys working on new and innovative concepts.

The GC and other 2 lawyers in this team have all been there a long time and work very well together – being able to work collaboratively and get on with people is key to succeeding in this business. All the lawyers carry out a broad role and are given a lot of autonomy from early on.

What are we looking for:

• Funds experience – our client is open as to the type of funds - UCITS to alternative funds - as long as you want to move into a broader role where funds related work forms part of your role;
• Someone who is curious and humble, a team player who also enjoys working autonomously;
• You may come from a law firm, or already be in-house in a related industry.
