Outstanding opportunity to be the first Legal Director at this fast growth insurance company that is HQ in California and focuses on electronic devices. Operating across Europe, Japan and Australia, this company has grown rapidly in recent years and has ambitions to quadruple the turnover of its European business.
You will have experience of supporting business partners in all legal matters including commercial contracts, employment matters, privacy, corporate governance, marketing, litigation, strategic alliances, partnerships and technology transactions. Additionally, You will work closely with business partners throughout the company, advising on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to the core business.
- Review, draft and manage variety of legal agreements, including retailer partnerships, supply chain/sourcing deals, inbound/procurement, development and other complex commercial agreements
- Advise on employment law matters, privacy and data security, corporate governance, marketing, and any other legal matters that arise
- Manage outside counsel in specialty areas including the company's global expansion
- Manage interactions with regulators regarding the company's product
- Stay on top of current and pending legislation to ensure that company's stays in compliance across the board; develop internal policies to ensure compliance with such regulations
- Manage the legal effort on special transactions including financings, acquisitions and joint-ventures
- Identify, propose and implement solutions to address issues; take prudent risks within the context of our overall business
- Work without supervision, independently initiate new legal projects and identify ways to improve our processes and operations
In this role, you will report into the CFO for Europe but you will also operate as a part of a global team of experienced lawyers who work closely with our business team to provide practical and productive legal advice and have fun while doing it.
Currently working in-house with at least 2 years experience in-house, you will preferably be working within a regulated sector. Significant experience in drafting and negotiating strategic alliance, partnership, intellectual property and procurement-related agreements will be a key part of the role - often with some of the world's largest tech companies!! Moreover, you will be a deal-focused lawyer with a sense of urgency to get things done: who works effectively with other disciplines to effectively mange the legal risk.
