Projects Partner – Energy & Infrastructure (International)

We are helping an international law firm client wishing to hire an additional projects partner (project development or project finance) to supplement the existing team.

This group (as individuals and a team) have attained consistently high rankings in the directories and work for significant sponsors, contractors and lenders. In terms of the energy sector department (of c. 10 partners globally) work across all areas, from oil & gas through nuclear to renewables. Given the geography of its offices the firm is well placed to resource the energy needs of many emerging markets, particularly Africa and Asia. Infrastructure deals cover power, transport and also social infrastructure.

Culturally, our client has always had a good reputation and it is profitable. Retention is solid and there are an excellent cohort of ambitious and well trained associates. The firm would like to talk to either energy generalists or projects/project finance partner who have a particular area of speciality in any of the above areas – whether energy or infra. Without wanting to sound too binary, following will be really important (as it is anywhere at present), but if you are confident in your clients and profile the partners will be able to match you commitment to this process.

The firm operates a modified lockstep, compensation is very transparent and the firm has posted pretty decent results this year, despite everything. As we know, from other partner candidates, onboarding and integration is an important part of their lateral process and ensures that new partners are plugged into every available resource and become successful quickly.
