Our client is one of the powerhouses in the mid-range U.S. law firm sector with an ethos that is practical, and business driven built around speed and performance. Their practice areas comprise a strategic portfolio of Corporate, Corporate Restructuring, Litigation and Capital Markets. 

The client base comprises a mix ranging from start-up and emerging growth businesses, to national, global and Fortune 500 companies. They have few foreign offices and headcount of lawyers compared to their larger competitors which supports their unique model that eliminates internal politics whilst supporting inter-office practice and international collaboration.  

The Role

The decision has been taken at executive level to recruit a Debt Capital Markets team or individual partner capable of building a profitable team.  They have extensive experience advising both public and private companies on IPOs and secondary offerings in London on the Main Market and, in particular, AIM. They are considered as one of the leading firms within the AIM market where they advise companies, Nomads and Boards of AIM listed companies on a wide range of issues. The gap in London is a Debt Capital Markets practice which has increasingly resulted in transactions having to be turned away. The objective is to build a mid-market cross-border DCM practice which will handle Eurobonds, listed EMTN and commercial paper programmes. Their emerging market client base offers significant opportunities for bond issuance work that is presently untapped. The target market will be issuer clients who will instruct on bind issue mandates which could generate follow-on work for bind series issues and possible spin-off corporate work. Underwriter instructions will also be targeted. 

Candidate Requirement

An entrepreneurial partner ideally with a small team or an individual partner with experience or potential to grow their own team. It is likely that your practice is not tied to bank panel positions or restricted by narrow practice area focus but rather bond issuers and underwriters who are independent of rigid panels. You will also have the flexibility to adapt to a changing finance market and seize opportunities wherever they arise.
