Global brokerage seeking commercial lawyer (3+ yrs. PQE) for 6-month contract

Our client is a global leader in the Fintech space within the online derivatives trading and stockbroking sectors. A global leader in retail trading and investments, they offer an execution-only share dealing service and fully managed investment portfolios which provide a comprehensive offering to investors and active traders.

With offices across Europe, US, U.A.E., Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore and South Africa, they are now looking for a mid-level/senior lawyer who must be available at short notice (i.e less than one month, ideally) to join the company as Legal Counsel, for a 6-month fixed-term contract.

As the lawyers in this team are not pigeon-holed into certain areas, this is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer to assume a role with real breadth by supporting all areas of the business.

In this role you will:

• Draft, review and negotiate documentation such as commercial contracts, IT contracts, engagement letters and marketing agreements;
• Deal with IP related matters, and financing;
• Advise and support the wider global business, which will involve cross-border matters such as the expansion of the business, opening of new offices and ensuring the business is compliant with local law and regulations.

The successful candidate will be adaptable and energetic - someone who is used to assimilating into workstreams quickly and has the confidence to work autonomously. You will form part of a well-established team, so you must also be prepared to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and assist in a collaborative manner on matters which range from basic to complex in nature.

We are looking for:

• a UK qualified solicitor with at least 4 years’ PQE who is available at short notice;
• strong commercial contracts experience in both drafting and negotiating;
• demonstrable experience dealing with data protection and IT matters;
• previous in-house experience – ideally from a relevant financial services institution.
