Saudi-qualified Commercial Counsel 4-7 PQE - Riyadh, KSA

Our client is a leading diversified manufacturing consortium in the Middle East with substantial business interests across the Gulf region (and internationally) and a large legal team supporting them. Due to continued workload, they are looking to hire a Commercial Counsel with 4-7years' experience of commercial contract law, ideally with some exposure to manufacturing/engineering/chemicals/heavy industry.

Candidates will be Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-educated and qualified, with strong commercial contract/corporate experience gained from either private practice or in-house. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Negotiating, drafting and providing legal support with regards to agreements/contracts, including:
• Sale and Supply Agreements; Memorandums of Understanding; Letters of Interest, Confidentiality Agreements, Distribution Agreements, Tolling Agreements, Service Agreements, Cost Recovery Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and Marketing Agreements;
• Providing general legal advice on the interpretation of contracts and working alongside other departments within the company;
• Researching and anticipating unique legal issues and disputes that could affect the company;
• Supporting on logistic and supply chain matters, such as demurrage claims, off specification claims, and product contamination claims;
• Supporting the development of legal policies and processes for the continuous improvement and development of the legal department and the company;
• Engaging and managing outside counsel on certain dedicated projects;
• Supporting Financings/Facilities, including but not limited to: Project Financing, Islamic Financing (Murabaha), Corporate (balance sheet) Financing, and Intercompany Loans;
• Ensure timely completion of assignments (under constrained deadlines) in a professional manner with regular reporting to management;
• Providing training workshops to non-legal staff and junior lawyers in order to increase legal and compliance awareness and provide leadership and mentorship;
• Managing skill development, in particular acting as a mentor for junior lawyers;
• Supporting and handling disputes with customers and/or third parties;
• Support and advise on general commercial antitrust matters; and
• Providing compliance workshops and reviews

To be successful in your application, you will ideally:

• Be educated and legally qualified in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and hold an advanced law degree (additional international legal studies and/or qualifications would be highly regarded);
• Have 4-7 years' experience with a focus on transactional commercial law; this is likely to be a mixture of law firm and in-house experience;
• Most likely be currently employed in-house within a similar business in a legal role focused on commercial/procurement matters.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong and demonstrable experience in negotiating legal and commercial issues
• The ability to operate autonomously and as part of a team with little or no supervision.
