Job Details

A global leader in the music industry is currently searching for a Commercial & Corporate Lawyer to join their international legal team which provides support across a wide range of sectors and services. 

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: liaising with local external counsel in commercial and corporate matters ensuring compliance with local customs, laws and corporate governance requirements; negotiating and drafting supplier agreements both domestically in support of HR, Facilities and other departments as well as assisting international affiliates with their own supplier agreements; drafting intragroup agreements to accommodate the bespoke needs of new and existing affiliates, including distribution agreements, marketing & promotion agreements and sub-publishing agreements; negotiating and drafting licence agreements; drafting and negotiating commercial contracts such as NDAs, supplier agreements for goods and services (including SaaS and software development agreements), agency agreements and consultancy agreements; providing support to affiliates in the emerging market territories by assisting local MDs in the negotiation and drafting of artist recording agreements, licence agreements, producer/mixer/remixer agreements, brand partnership agreements; and liaising with the corporate M&A team to assist in the due diligence process.

The successful candidate will have c.2-4yrs PQE* with experience in the drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts, and ideally the licensing of intellectual property. You should have experience in, or at least a solid understanding of, corporate structures and M&A activity; and it would be ideal if you have an understanding of Emerging Market territories with respect to cultural, political and customary business practices
