Job Details

Join a prestigious international, Top 20 law firm that has set themselves apart from the competition, this is well demonstrated by the innovative, cutting edge and forward-thinking way in which they deliver legal services. They were an extremely early adopter of technology and have used AI to streamline their processes. They continue to achieve year on year organic growth. They continue to receive an abundance of industry and employer awards every year.

The Firm:

With offices throughout every major UK City, and internationally, the firm is Tier 1 in the Legal 500 across an abundance of specialisms. They have been repeatedly recognised for their commercial awareness, innovation, and the sector knowledge that they possess. This Top 20 law firm boasts over 400 Partners, many of whom are homegrown and have established stellar individual reputations that give them and the firm real gravitas.

The firm has made significant investment throughout 2020, with the Manchester office being a key area of focus for the firm. This is evidenced by the investment they have made into the latest technology, continuously improving the office space, and the number of strategic heavyweight hires made in the last 12 months alone. They have a strong appetite for growth, and 2021 will be no different.

Investment in technology has always been an important part of who the firm is. They are constantly looking to remain ahead of the curve, provide a seamless client experience, and take away the monotonous administrative duties that will free up time to focus on what you do best; deliver top quality client service, build relationships, and generate revenue.

The client base reflects the firm's calibre, reputation, and expert knowledge. You will be representing international clients, household FTSE 250 names, and public sector bodies, making for a challenging, yet interesting and rewarding caseload.

The firm has recently moved their 300+ strong Manchester team to a brand new development in a well-connected area of the City, just a short walk from the nearest tram and train stations.

What truly sets this firm apart is their culture. You may expect a firm of this size to have a stuffy, corporate environment, but that couldn't be further from reality. You will find a close-knit, collaborative team that will welcome you with open arms from day one, and an active social calendar that will allow you to integrate and build strong relationships with the wider team. This makes for an enjoyable and stimulating work environment, allowing the firm to enjoy an unrivalled employee retention rate. Also, you will find that the firm nurtures and develops legal talent, this is well demonstrated by the growing number of home-grown partners.

The Role:

This is a stand-out opportunity for a Senior Employment Associate to join this highly regarded, Top 20 firm, based in Manchester City Centre.

The team handles a broad range of contentious & non-contentious work on behalf of employers. You will deal with a wide range of different industry sectors, as well as a wide range of company sizes, this variety will make for an interesting and diverse caseload.

You will handle a varied caseload of High Court Litigation, restrictive covenant disputes, Breach of Contract, and discrimination. On the non-contentious side, the work you undertake will include large scale redundancies, TUPE, employment contracts, and advising on Employment Law changes. You will benefit from a steady stream of work, most of which is referred from the firm's busy Corporate department.

As a senior member of the team, you will mentor and oversee the junior lawyers and help them grow and progress. Despite their size, the firm isn't looking for a cog in a wheel; you will be an individual with ideas and personality who can play a pivotal role in the department's growth and direction.

You will find that this opportunity comes with a high level of career investment and progression. Not only that, but international relocation is welcomed, and you will find that many of their lawyers have taken advantage of the firm's global reach by relocating to one of their offices across Europe, Asia and the US.

Requirements:

  • You will be an Employment Solicitor with at least seven years' experience within Employment Law (there is no upper limit in regards to the amount of experience)
  • You will have a strong background in both contentious & non-contentious Employment Law on behalf of employers
  • Ability to build strong relationships with other departments within the firm, and the clients that you work with
  • Be a keen business developer and have the ability to generate new business whilst nurturing and building existing client relationships
  • Able to work as part of a team and mentor junior team members

This is a rare opportunity to join a respected, Tier 1 Employment Team at one of the UK's leading law firms, based in Manchester City Centre. You will receive a highly competitive salary, in addition to a market-leading benefits package and bonus, and a clear route to Partnership.
