Job Details
In order to meet our clients continued requirement for growth, both in the UK and internationally and drive for efficiency, an opportunity has arisen for a property lawyer to assist the Legal, Governance and Intellectual Property Team with its real estate matters.
The successful candidate will need to:
● Draft and negotiate leases, agreements for lease, sale agreements, transfers and surrenders;
● Review responses to commercial property standard enquiries and raise appropriate further queries;
● Review official copy entries and plans along with associated deeds and documents and perform due diligence on properties
including the raising of searches and reviewing search results;
● Oversee post-completion matters such as SDLT returns and Land Registry applications;
● Complete requests for information from, and make submissions to, Local Authorities and the Valuation Office;
● Review and negotiate licences for alterations, wayleaves and other property management documents;
● Assist with rent reviews;
● Deal with landlord and tenant issues and liaise with landlords;
● Review and negotiate heads of terms for new property acquisitions;
● Support the acquisition of property in foreign jurisdictions and manage foreign property lawyers working on these projects;
● Assist funders to acquire security over properties;
● Respond to queries from colleagues and assist them with their real estate/planning-related issues. It will be beneficial to have
familiarity with planning law and the ability to spot planning issues in order to refer them for specialist planning advice;
● Produce and assist in giving training to colleagues;
● Assist with the property aspects of construction and engineering transactions; and
● Identify and manage legal risks within property contracts.
In addition, the successful candidate will need to identify and implement good practice and create template documents and keep up-to-date with new legislation and case law and share that knowledge with colleagues. The ideal candidate will be 3-5 PQE.
