Job Details

Our client is one of the world's largest independent investment management firms that serves an institutional client base across over 50 countries.

Our client is now seeking a legal professional to join their highly regarded legal team, largely to support the growth of their established and expanding funds business covering equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternative strategies.

This individual will work with the lawyers and directly support the firm’s EMEA fund platforms and institutional distributor relationships by focusing on the legal and contractual frameworks through which the firm enters into distribution arrangements.

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • Experience in UCITS funds and framework both from an advisory and transactional perspective;
  • Working knowledge of the asset management world and the place of distribution within it;
  • Experience in/knowledge of other regulations affecting the funds sector e.g. policies and regulations around ESG;
  • The ability to prioritise and execute effectively and efficiently;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills, and attention to detail.

We are open to applications from candidates from either private practice, or those already in a relevant in-house team.  You do not have to be a qualified solicitor for this role, but we are open to receiving applications from qualified solicitors as well.

The role will involve:

  • Providing legal support on day to day distributor queries as needed, and on the development of distribution policies and procedures;
  • Maintenance and review of distribution agreements with EMEA distributors appointed by the fund platform teams, and with Asiapac and Americas distributors where needed to support Asiapac/Americas teams;
  • Dealing with ad hoc country fund registration questions and assistance with “new” country fund registrations;
  • Maintenance of the selling and marketing rules of the road.

Interpersonally, you must be someone who:

  • Is able to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment;
  • Has an energetic approach, and a desire to grow, develop and assume additional responsibilities;
  • Can take ownership of workload whilst recognising when to escalate matters;
  • Can foster long-lasting relationships with both the legal and business teams across all levels of the organisation.

This is a 6 month FTC to start ASAP.  Our client is a very reputable asset manager and will offer a very competitive compensation package and the opportunity to form part of a collaborative and supportive legal team.
