In-House IP Counsel

My Client is a FTSE 250 global player which turns over in excess of £200m and everything sold worldwide is designed, engineered, manufactured & packed from their HQ, which is then dispatched to one of their global warehouses or straight to the customer.

Central to this operation is a small, however highly influential and well-respected legal team, which is now looking to recruit a specialist IP lawyer to help the business move into (arguably) its most exciting chapter yet! This is a highly visible role which will prove influential and integral to the ongoing success of this phase.

You will report to the Legal Manager and advise the Licensing Department in connection with any and all intellectual property matters as they arise, including the drafting and negotiation of intellectual property licences, advising on copyright and trademark law, advising on industry standard practices for major brand licensing deals, and researching and advising on the risks in relation to new channels and new jurisdictions. To be successful in this role, you must be experienced in brand licensing and copyright and trademark law - no patent experience is required.

You are likely to be an enthusiastic and positive Solicitor with at least 4 years PQE, who will thrive in such a creative environment where you are as likely to be liaising with representatives from international movie studios and games designers as you are with internal stakeholders and commercial colleagues.

Whilst the business is based in the East Midlands there is scope for significant flexibility to work remotely in the main, ensuring geography does not prevent my client from being able to attract the most suitable candidate.
