Fantastic opportunity for an experienced litigation lawyer with public inquiry/investigations experience to join a leading international practice based in either Birmingham or Cardiff.
This is a rare opportunity to join a leading specialist team working for clients in both the public and private sector with a wealth of experience of working on a number of high profile government inquiries either acting as Solicitors to the Inquiry or acting for core participants. The team is also regularly instructed on internal investigations for clients requiring independent reviews of their work and practices.
Recent experience includes; acting for a number of core participants in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, acting for a core participant in the Infected Blood Inquiry, and being appointed as the Commissioning Body for the Independent Inquiry into Telford Child Sexual Exploitation.
The successful candidate will be an experienced lawyer with at least 4 years PQE of dealing with inquiries and/or internal investigations including; drafting and advising on terms of reference and procedural rules, liaising with and taking statements from witnesses. undertaking evidential review and analysis, advising on document review and management, avoiding judicial review, media handling, privilege, freedom of information and data protection.
This role will also involve managing and supervising junior team members and assisting with tenders for new work streams. Candidates must also be able to work remotely and travel (when necessary) at short notice. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and able to deal with a range of stakeholders, including; vulnerable witnesses, the media, politicians, police forces and sponsoring government departments.
