36 Stone is a leading set of international commercial barristers based in London and Singapore. We’re best known for our expertise in shipping, international trade and, increasingly, international arbitration. Members have a long and deep pedigree in big-ticket litigation and arbitration (whether as Counsel or as Arbitrators), with a client base drawn from around the world.

This year, we’ve embraced new strategies in practice development and marketing, above all revitalising our internal functions with a new Director of Clerking. New Members are joining at the start of the new Term and we are working day-in day-out on transforming how we’re perceived in the market, talking to new and current clients about their aspirations and requirements, and how we can not just match, but exceed them.

These new initiatives, developed while the current crisis gave some time and space to re-calibrate how we reach our various markets, have led to a notable increase in instructions and interest in the UK and internationally across shipping, commodities and international arbitration. That’s why we now need even greater strength and depth across the board.

We’re now looking to engage with practitioners at all stages of their career at the Bar who are seeking a new challenge within our areas of expertise and a more amenable, friendly and commercially-minded set-up for their skills. We believe that there are few chambers currently embracing the future with our levels of purpose and enthusiasm. We’re able to provide a progressive environment and an enviable support structure, with considerable potential for talented barristers to thrive and develop on the international stage.
