SENIOR COSTS LAWYER/DRAFTSMAN:
The firm currently have an opportunity for either a Costs Draftsperson or a Costs Lawyer to join the team. The role will involve handling a costs caseload that will include a broad and varied mix of civil and commercial costs recovery work, with the main focus being on costs management work. In addition, you will be required to undertake all work associated with bills of costs and points of dispute. You will be dealing with a substantial client base, including some high value work. You will be required to prepare your own bills and follow the costs process through to detailed assessment where necessary as well as supervise and develop the Costs Team. You will help shape and improve the firms costs offering and practice / client service and will ensure a consistent costs strategy is being utilised by all Fee Earners. The successful applicant will be expected to monitor and manage a panel of external costs lawyers, as well as developing and line managing a costs team. You will have a minimum of six years' experience in a Costs Lawyer role and demonstrable experience of managing a team and developing people along with experience of claimant and defendant costs. Experience of drafting bills of costs and budgets for Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases is essential along with cost negotiation and advocacy experience.
