Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for our client, an educational institution in Warwickshire. This role will ensure authoritative and effective procedures are in place to safeguard the University’ compliance obligations in relation to the Data Protection Act and all associated legislation as well as lead and manage a small team dealing with the business’ responses to Freedom of Information Act requests and data subject requests.

Reporting to the Director of Legal and Compliance Services, this role will be taking responsibility for a portfolio of matters (with a data protection focus) from across the business providing comprehensive legal advice and problem-solving guidance to senior management, officers within the business subsidiaries and other staff as necessary including relating to:

o            Data protection impact assessments

o            Data transfer agreements

o            General data protection queries

o            Commercial contracts

The successful candidate will have 5 years PQE as well as demonstrable experience in relation to implementation and management of data security and compliance. If you have the ability to work in a constantly changing environment and adapt, we’d like to hear from you.
