This top 50 law practice are forward thinking and innovative, and are continuously making a number of strategic, heavy weight hires. The firm generally have won a whole host of awards and over recent years have been named as employment law firm of the year. They are looking for like-minded and commercially driven individuals to join their leadership team in Manchester.

The Firm

The firm has a rich heritage dating back over 50 years; they are a multi-service, Top 50 practice. They pride themselves on being dynamic, entrepreneurial and forward-thinking. In recent years the firm has grown significantly with a number of strategic hires.

They are multi-award winning and have a working culture which truly harnesses career growth and development. They have an ever-growing number of homegrown partners which demonstrates well the level of investment they provide to their staff.

The practice deals with such a wide variety of clients, ranging from technology SME, right up to multinational FTSE 250, household names.

The firm is well managed, with a strong leadership team. Partners are more accessible than in other similar-sized firms, even down to the open-plan seating. This way of working has helped more junior Lawyers to obtain a level of PQE ahead of their years.

You will find a working environment that is professional, friendly and supportive. There is a good social scene where there are lots of different events to get involved with. Despite the firm's size, they have a lovely family feel running throughout.

The Role

The firm are looking for an Employment Partner to join their Manchester office in the heart of the City.

  • You will work closely with the other Partners within the employment department, and more generally across the firm, to drive the business forwards. You will work as part of a driven and commercially successful leadership team
  • You will work on a varied and interesting caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious matters, including contract and policy drafting, discrimination issues, managing discipline and performance, and redundancy and restructurings
  • You will mentor and oversee the work of junior Lawyers and help them to progress in their careers
  • You will find real variety to the work that you do, this will make for an interesting role. You will advise a range executive and professionals across many industry sectors including Sport, Media & Entertainment, Retail, Real Estate, Education and Healthcare
  • This role comes with strong prospects to progress, in line with the growth agenda. The firm are succession planning are keen to find the next generation of senior Lawyers.

Requirements

  • You will be an Employment Lawyer with at least 8 years PQE (there is no upper limit regarding the amount of experience)
  • A transferable client base or regional contacts is highly advantageous
  • You will have a strong technical knowledge and first-class communication skills
  • You will have good experience of dealing with large settlements
  • You will have strong business development capabilities
  • Experience of overseeing a team is desirable, however not essential
