We are working with a leading Regulatory and Professional Discipline team in the City. The team are looking to secure a Regulatory and Professional Discipline Lawyer with experience in handling Fitness to Practise cases for a contract of 12 months.
Experience in handling Fitness to Practise matters for the GDC, HCPC, EWC and GOC would be of particular interest.
The role will involve running your own litigation caseload to assist the Regulatory team. The caseload may consist of matters for the HCPC, GPHC, GOC, GDC and the EWC. You would be involved in preparing and presenting cases before their Fitness to Practise/disciplinary panels. This will involve:
- Considering/reviewing papers received on instruction
- Providing an analysis of the issues and evidence required
- Taking statements from witnesses
- Preparing and checking witness statements
- Liaising with the client, witnesses and the registrant's representatives
- Preparing legal documents
- Instructing expert witnesses and Counsel
Candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England or Wales or another commonwealth jurisdiction
- Possess between 2-7 years' PQE in handling professional discipline and fitness to practise matters
- Extensive litigation experience
- The ability to see issues from a commercial perspective
- Excellent drafting and communications skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- The ability to balance a sizeable and varied caseload
- A passion for regulatory/professional discipline matters, particularly fitness to practise cases
