Health and Safety Solicitor – Sheffield - NQ-2
We have a new role at one of the UK’s leading commercial law firms for an excellent Health and Safety and wider corporate regulatory solicitor. The firm is a leader in the field of regulatory work, offering risk assessment advice to some of the biggest commercial, real estate and corporate clients nationally and handling high profile incidents, defending health and safety prosecutions. The successful applicant will work alongside the existing Sheffield team and members of the national team advising clients in all aspects of regulatory compliance, predominantly in relation to health and safety, but also food safety, trading standards, fire safety and coroner inquests. The nature of the cases are such that the role will appeal to those solicitors looking to focus at any one time on a very small handful of high-profile, complex matters.
The ideal applicant would have a largely health and safety background and, with the work generally being 80% contentious in nature, experience and a flair for litigation. The ideal applicant would be familiar with retail sector issues including pricing, labelling, advertising, promotions, product safety and recall, but the key is having the health and safety experience. Whilst the successful applicant will generally be working as part of a team on a small number of high-value, high-profile matters, he/she should have a good appreciation of the whole process and be accustomed to dealing with interviews under caution, liaising with Counsel and preparing cases for hearing/trial.
The firm is looking for a solicitor with between 0 and 2 years PQE at a national, regional or City firm highly regarded for its health and safety regulatory work. Alternatively, you could be working at a niche health and safety practice looking to move into a completely different environment and benefit from working in a full-service national practice. The key is exposure to quality work in this area. A strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills are a given as well as a willingness to travel nationally for clients and trials.
On offer is a top of market package and exposure to working on some of the highest profile health and safety regulatory work in the UK. The team is a genuine leader in the area and will provide a perfect springboard for any ambitious regulatory lawyer.
If you would like to hear more about the above profiled regulatory vacancy, please do contact Terry Cape.
Please note that CapeClarke advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We will aim to respond to your enquiry as soon as possible but CapeClarke does receive a high number of applications and if we have not contacted you within 5 days, your application has not met the requirements of our client.
