Head of Monitoring - London

This is an existing opportunity to go and work within a fintech environment whilst engaging with major regulators and financial institutions to improve the way the financial services operates especially given the changes in customer activity going online.

In this role you are going to be involved in building a robust regulatory monitoring framework, drawing on large data sets (with the help of data analysts) to improve industry standards and regulations.

Role responsibilities:

• Enabling the Trustee to provide assurance to the regulator that the associated firms implementations comply with the standards and do not present barriers to adoption and that the competitive space is being used competitively.
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the regulations.
• Preparing and providing assessments to the Regulators via the Trustee on an on-going basis to ensure the objectives of the Order are being met and over time to assess the effectiveness of the remedies.
• Function (and ultimately Trustee) will be the escalation point for the group when they observe associated firms behaviour that is not in compliance or working appropriately.
• Reporting directly into the Trustee with a dotted line into the Program Director
• Responsible for creating the terms of reference and governance for the Monitoring Function for approval by the Trustee
• Developing working relationships with key stakeholders in each bank
• Providing high quality and robust data analysis, reporting and benchmarking reports for review and publication by the Trustee and external consumption by HMT, FCA, other regulatory bodies and potentially media
• Providing well thought through and legally defensible recommendations (in consultation with Policy) for review by the Trustee
• Head of Monitoring will work closely with key parts of the group and in particular, the Head of Policy and Propositions.
• Ability to manage and organise a team and integrate seamlessly with the functions that provide the relevant information and leverage experts to interpret the output. They need to be able to understand the customer, technical and legal elements of the technology.
• And otherwise to deliver the key activities of the monitoring function as described above.

Experience & knowledge:

• Experience as an in-house strategy/senior compliance professional or a blue chip internal audit professional with second line of defence experience.
• They need to be extremely well organised and able to create and manage adherence to timelines.
• They will need to be able to organise and manage a team and integrate seamlessly with the other functions that provide the relevant information. They need to be able to understand the customer, technical and legal elements of group.
• Industry experience does not need to be Payments or Financial services but would be desirable. Could well be more of a consumer and tech orientation and/or with regulatory or compliance and experience of working with legal teams.
• Able to liaise with senior counterparts among the associated firms as well as senior counsel and policy lobbyists among the associated firms, and be able to determine, deliver and defend difficult and complex positions among these stakeholders.
• Committed, with high energy and attention to detail
• Able to liaise with lots of people with good stakeholder engagement
