A global electronics and technology business which is considered as a leader in creating the world's most innovative technology. You will work within their R&D and AI team as a sole counsel role. You will report to the CFO with a dotted line to the Head of Legal EMEA where you will lead on a broad range of contract and commercial matters. Candidates must be UK or EU qualified with a minimum of 5 yrs PQE.
The candidate will need to be a self-starter, able to work independently and manage complex issues in a fast paced commercial environment. The role is highly demanding but also interesting and intellectually rewarding with opportunities to get closely involved in many different business areas.
As this role is a sole position you will be required to provide legal advice to the technology design teams and focus on contract reviews and negotiations. The majority of work will be non-contentious in nature and involve drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements including: university sponsorship agreements; master service agreements and associated statements of work; property licenses/leases; consortium agreements, non-disclosure agreements; terms of service; end-user license agreements; and presentations. You will lead on negotiations with external and internal parties and take direction from the EU Head of Legal and advise personnel at all levels of the business. This position requires a pragmatic and commercially minded lawyer who will engage in the training of the business on legal developments, legal reviews and contract review systems matters.
The ideal candidate will be UK qualified with a minimum of 5 yrs PQE gained from contract drafting/negotiations with a focus on IP. Must have excellent academics and training from a reputable Law Firm or in-house at a major tech business. The ideal candidate will have have working knowledge in a research and development environment with strong experience in contract negotiations, as well as a strong overall grasp of general commercial matters. Applications from candidates with working knowledge and experience in Artificial Intelligence is advantageous.
