Commercial IP/IT: Global firm (PQE 4+)

The Commercial IP/IT team both leads and supports transactions, depending on the sector and the client. The main clients of the team are in Pharma, TMT and Financial Services and the range of work is diverse. The majority of deals are international and involve large client and internal teams. The successful candidate will be expected to take on leadership roles on transactions, working closely with partners and managing teams of associates. The successful candidate will work closely with a range of partners in the Commercial/IP/IT team and will be expected to contribute towards the continued development of the practice.

The person appointed will have the opportunity to play a key role in a growing team, undertaking leading edge work on challenging issues, including:

• Leading complex separation and carve-out projects, co-ordinating all internal specialist teams and taking a lead client facing role in managing projects and negotiating transaction documents;
• Advise clients on a range of IP/IT issues across all sectors, but with a particular emphasis on financial services, pharma and telecoms;
• Building and developing a strong internal network within the firm globally and working collaboratively with colleagues from other teams, especially on wider transactional deals;
• Developing a good understanding of the firm's client strategy, a lead role in specific client teams and contribute to business development initiatives that help strengthen client relationships

Key Requirements

• Strong commercial/IP/IT transactional experience (likely to have at least 4+ years post qualification experience) - the size of firm is not key and the team has historically recruited from a variety of firms in different geographies.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contract law, intellectual property and information technology as it relates to large, commercial transactions are particularly important for this role.
