Headquartered in London, our client operates a suite of universally respected news, information and communications businesses. It is a leading multimedia and global content provider across web, mobile, broadcast and print, providing tailored multimedia content solutions for a broad range of businesses, brands and organisations. Using advanced technology, it enables its customers to deliver rich compelling end-user experiences by creating intuitive and responsive products to serve constantly adapting technologies and customer needs.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic lawyer to join an established and respected in-house legal team, reporting directly to the Group General Counsel. The role is a broad and varied one: specific areas of legal specialism are less important than legal acumen, a good track record and a commercial approach; some experience in relation to IP, data rights/technology, advertising, EU competition, sport and/or media would, however, be an advantage.

You will manage a varied and interesting workload for a range of Group businesses and divisions, with responsibilities including:-

• drafting and negotiating digital content, supply, consultancy and other agreements for the Group's print, online, broadcast, mobile and other customers
• negotiating joint venture arrangements and service provider contracts for the acquisition of content and IT services
• managing commercial, IP and libel disputes/litigation-and instructing external law firms
• providing high quality, concise and commercial legal advice on a wide range of issues, including social media, data and sports rights, IP, advertising and competition law
• maintaining company policies, precedents and terms of use

There will be a large focus on sports content so if you have a keen interest in or some experience in this area, it will be an advantage.

Candidates with excellent relevant experience who are outside of the preferred PQE range may be considered on a 3/4 day per week basis.

You will liaise directly with sales and operational teams, and interact with Group senior management, so commercial awareness and excellent communication skills are crucial. You will be hard working and personable, looking for a role in a challenging and rewarding digital/media environment. You will be keen to turn your hand to a wide range of work.
